Married and moved to Spanaway

filed under journal

I thought I would sneak one last update in before the end of the year. That way at least I can say I updated the site twice in 2005.

Cathryn and I got married on November 19. We stayed in a motel that night, came home and started packing. We moved to Spanaway, right near Spanaway park. I can't wait for the weather to get nicer so I can ride my bike.

Notice the Azureus link in the top right corner has been replaced with a link to µTorrent, my new favorite torrent client. Even when I have it loaded up with 20+ torrents, seeding, downloading or both, it uses about 4-5 MB of RAM and almost no CPU usage. I know I had seen Azureus go up and beyond 90 MB on more than one occasion, and more than 10% CPU frequently.

I guess that's not fair now though, since I've upgraded to a new processor and motherboard. I'm using an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ with an ASUS A8V Deluxe motherboard. I also got a 16x dual-layer DVD burner. I'm not done yet. I'm going to get a new case, a 74 GB 10,000 RPM SATA150 Raptor for my OS and installed programs and games, and a 400 GB SATA150 drive for storage. Right now I have 2 250 GB IDE drives in RAID0 on a Promise FastTrak TX2. There are no 64-bit compatible drivers for this card, so I haven't been able to try out Windows XP x64 Edition. That's why I need to get the 400 GB drive so I can move everything over and get rid of the RAID controller. Oh, and faster RAM, and more of it. I'm going to get two 1 -gig sticks with timings of 2-3-2-6 or something. Right now the generic (Xerox?) memory I have is 3-3-3-8!

I'm going to try and upgrade forum in a few minutes, since it gets so much use.

Update:

The new forum is up!
